Western Australia’s heat and UV intensity is hard on leather interiors. If your wagon or small SUV has leather seats and parks outside — at the office, at school pickup near Currambine or Ocean Reef, or in the Lakeside Joondalup carpark — the sun is steadily degrading the leather every day.

Leather dries out when the natural oils are stripped away by heat and UV exposure. Here’s how it usually happens:

The leather starts to feel slightly stiff instead of soft and supple. The colour can start to look a little faded or uneven. Then dry patches appear, usually on the seat bolsters and headrests first. Eventually, fine cracks form — and if left untreated, those cracks deepen.

The good news is that if you catch it early, proper leather care can restore a lot of that suppleness and stop the damage from getting worse.

As part of our Interior Detail — WAGON/Small SUV service, we clean the leather with a pH-balanced leather cleaner that removes grime without stripping the material. We then apply a high-quality leather conditioner that soaks into the leather, restores moisture and flexibility, and provides a layer of protection against future UV and heat damage.

The result is leather that feels softer, looks healthier, and is much better protected going forward.
