Cut and Buff Polish Wagon Small SUV Car Detailing Joondalup – Fabulous Car Care Edgewater

You wash your wagon or small SUV and it still looks flat. Swirl marks everywhere in the sun. Paint that looks faded and chalky on the bonnet and roof. Tar spots that won’t shift no matter what you try.

Washing won’t fix it. Spray wax won’t fix it. The damage is inside the clear coat — and the only real fix is a professional Cut and Buff Polish.

Swirl Marks, Tar, Sap, or Faded Paint on Your Wagon or SUV?

Swirl marks are the most common paint problem we see. They come from automatic car washes, dirty wash mitts, and wiping down a dusty car with a dry cloth. Individually they’re tiny. But hundreds of them across every panel make the paint look hazy and grey in sunlight.

Tar bonds chemically to your clear coat — regular washing won’t touch it. Tree sap hardens in Perth’s heat and starts to etch into the paint. Industrial fallout shows up as small brown or orange specks on light coloured vehicles.

None of this responds to washing or waxing. It needs a clay bar decontamination first, then machine polishing to level the clear coat and remove the damage for good.

Can Cut and Buff Polish Damage Your Clear Coat?

Yes — if it’s done wrong. Machine polishing removes a thin, controlled layer of clear coat. The wrong compound, too much speed, or too many passes in one spot and you can burn through to the base coat underneath.

At Fabulous Car Care we assess the paint condition before we start. We choose our compound and pad based on how hard or soft the paint is. We work panel by panel and check as we go. If your clear coat is already very thin, we’ll tell you honestly before we touch it — not after.

Why Do Holograms or Buffer Trails Appear After a Cut and Buff?

Holograms are rainbow-like swirling marks left in the paint after polishing. They mean the finishing stage wasn’t done properly.

The cutting compound leaves fine marks — that’s normal and expected. Those marks are removed in the finishing stage using a softer pad and finer polish. Skip the finishing stage or rush it, and you’re left with buffer trails that look terrible under certain light.

We run a full two-stage process on every vehicle — cut, then finish. Both stages matter. If another detailer left holograms on your car, bring it in and we’ll assess what’s needed to fix it.

Why Doesn’t Cut and Buff Remove Bore Water Stains Completely in Perth?

This is a Perth-specific problem and we get asked about it regularly — especially from customers in Edgewater, Currambine, Kinross, and Joondalup where bore reticulation is common.

Perth bore water is high in minerals — calcium, magnesium, iron. When it sprays onto your car and dries repeatedly, those minerals etch into the clear coat over time. Light bore water staining can usually be treated and polished out. But if the etching has gone deep from years of exposure, polishing removes what it can — the base of the etch may still be visible.

We’ll show you what’s achievable and be upfront about what remains. The best long-term fix is a ceramic coating after polishing — it makes the surface much harder to etch and far easier to clean.

Why Does Paint Fade Again Quickly After a Cut and Buff in Perth?

Two main reasons.

First — no protection applied after polishing. A freshly polished surface is clean and slightly open. Without a sealant on top, Perth’s UV gets back into the clear coat fast. An unprotected finish can start looking dull again within a few months.

Second — the clear coat was already very thin before the polish. If there wasn’t much left to start with, what remains degrades quickly.

We include a paint sealant in every Cut and Buff Polish service. For longer-lasting protection, a ceramic coating applied after the polish is worth considering. We can talk through that option when you come in.
