Fix Paint Contamination from Tar, Sap, and Heavy Dust Buildup

You’ve noticed rough, sticky spots on your paint that won’t come off in the wash. Or a bumpy texture when you run your hand along the bonnet. That’s not dirt — that’s contamination that’s bonded into your clear coat.

Tar from road works flicks up onto lower panels and sticks permanently. Tree sap drops onto the roof and bonnet, hardens in the Perth heat, and starts etching into the paint surface. Industrial fallout — tiny iron particles from nearby traffic and the rail line — shows up as little rust-coloured specks on light coloured vehicles. Fine red dust from the north gets ground into the paint every time the car is wiped without being washed first.

None of it comes off with soap and water. You need a dedicated chemical decontamination treatment to dissolve what it can, followed by a clay bar to physically pull the rest off the surface without scratching the paint.

We do both before we even start the machine polish. The surface has to be clean and smooth before a polisher touches it — otherwise you’re grinding contamination into the clear coat and making things worse.

If your paint feels rough or has spots that won’t wash off, they’ll be gone by the time we finish the decontamination and clay bar stage of the Full Detail + Buff Polish + Engine Bay service.

Restore Shine Lost from Oxidation and Sun Damage

Perth’s sun is one of the harshest in the country. Leaving a car parked outside in Joondalup, Edgewater, Currambine, or Kinross year round — without a garage — means the UV is breaking down your clear coat constantly. Over time the paint loses its depth and gloss. It starts to look pale, chalky, or flat. On dark colours it looks grey. On reds it fades noticeably. On white vehicles the surface goes rough and dull.

This is oxidation. It’s the most common paint problem we see on sedans and hatchbacks across the northern suburbs.

The good news is that light to moderate oxidation responds very well to machine polishing. The machine cut removes the degraded clear coat layer and exposes the undamaged paint underneath. The colour comes back. The gloss returns. It can look like a different car.

We check the condition of the clear coat before we start and work panel by panel. If a section is too far gone — too little clear coat remaining to polish safely — we’ll tell you upfront. But in most cases, the improvement after our Cut and Buff Polish stage is dramatic.

Correct Swirl Marks and Minor Scratches for a Smooth Finish

Swirl marks are everywhere — most people just don’t know what’s causing them.

Every automatic car wash with rotating brushes puts fine circular scratches into your clear coat. Every time someone wipes a dusty car down with a cloth. Every wash with a slightly dirty mitt that hasn’t been rinsed properly. The scratches are tiny individually but across every panel they create a hazy, web-like pattern that makes even a recently washed car look dull in the sun.

Minor scratches from daily life — shopping trolleys, car park doors, scrapes against a wall or post — add to it. Where the scratch is still inside the clear coat and hasn’t broken through to the base colour, machine polishing removes it completely. Where it’s gone deeper, we can still improve it and let you know exactly what we’re working with.

Our machine cut stage physically levels the clear coat surface, removing swirl marks and scratches rather than hiding them with a filler product. The finishing polish after that refines the surface to a smooth, high-gloss result.

People from Beldon, Heathridge, Ocean Reef, and Connolly regularly bring their sedans and hatchbacks in specifically for this. You see the difference immediately in direct sunlight.

Clean and Protect Engine Bays Affected by Grease, Oil, and Dust

Most people don’t open the bonnet unless something is wrong. By the time they do, the engine bay has been collecting grease, oil residue, brake dust, and Perth’s fine red dust for years.

A dirty engine bay isn’t just an appearance problem. Heavy grease and oil buildup makes it harder to spot small leaks early. It retains heat in areas that shouldn’t run hot. And if you’re planning to sell or trade your car, a prospective buyer popping the bonnet and seeing a filthy engine bay immediately questions how well the whole car has been looked after.

We clean engine bays the right way — controlled degreaser application, careful agitation, and a controlled rinse that doesn’t blast water directly at sensitive electronics. Electrical components and sensitive areas are protected before we start. After cleaning, we dry and dress the bay so it looks clean and maintained.

It doesn’t come out looking like a showroom engine. It comes out looking like a car that’s been properly cared for — which is exactly the impression you want.

Who Is the Best Full Detail Buff Polish Engine Bay Car Detailing Near Joondalup?

Anyone who does all three parts properly — and doesn’t rush through any of them to get the car out the door faster.

The problem with a lot of “full detail” services is that the term means whatever the detailer wants it to mean. Sometimes it’s a wash, a vacuum, and a spray wax. Sometimes the engine bay “clean” is a quick wipe with a cloth. Sometimes the “buff polish” is a single pass of a random orbital without a proper finishing stage.

At Fabulous Car Care our Full Detail + Buff Polish + Engine Bay is exactly what it says. Machine polishing with a proper two-stage cut and finish on every painted exterior panel. A genuine interior deep clean including deodorising. A proper controlled engine bay decontamination.

We’ve been looking after sedans and hatchbacks from across the Joondalup area for years — Edgewater, Currambine, Beldon, Heathridge, Kinross, Connolly, Woodvale, Iluka, and beyond.
