Car WashJoondalup

Your Local Spot for Hand Washing That Actually Protects Your Paint

Three months ago, a Joondalup resident brought in her white Toyota. She'd been going to one of those automated places down the road. The scratches were everywhere — you could see them clear as day in the sun. Those rotating brushes had torn up her clearcoat something awful.

We started our car wash in Edgewater back in 2018 because we were tired of seeing good cars get ruined by lazy cleaning methods. Every vehicle gets hand-washed with fresh water and clean mitts. No recycled water touching your paint. No mystery chemicals that strip your wax off.

Hand Wash vs Automatic

Why Hand Washing Beats Automatic Every Time

Those big automatic places with the spinning brushes are fast and cheap for a reason. The brushes hold onto dirt from previous cars. The water gets recycled. The chemicals are harsh because they need to work fast.

We use fresh tap water for every rinse. Our wash mitts get cleaned between cars. We take our time because rushing causes mistakes, and mistakes cause swirl marks in your paint. Your car is probably worth $20,000–$60,000 — taking it through a $15 automatic wash that scratches the paint doesn't make sense.

We'd rather you spend a bit more now and keep your car looking good for years. Bad car washes damage your vehicle slowly. After a year? Dull, scratched paint. Faded trim. Dried-out plastic. Then you're looking at $500+ in paint correction.

The Joondalup Difference

What Makes Joondalup Car Care Different

Summer here is brutal on cars. UV rays fade your paint and dry out your rubber seals. Winter brings rain that spots your windows and carries road grime everywhere. Spring has all that pollen from the bushland. Every season brings something different and we adjust our washing techniques based on what your car's been through.

Beach trip? Extra attention to undercarriage and wheel wells for salt. Drove through roadwork on Mitchell Freeway? We'll make sure all that tar and asphalt dust comes off. Been doing this for seven years. We've washed thousands of cars from Joondalup and learned what works.

We Don't Rush
Never use pressure on the paint, always use clean water, check the cloths constantly. Most places don't bother.
Service Area

Serving Joondalup and Nearby Areas

We opened in Edgewater near Joondalup Gate in 2018 and people drive from Kinross, Iluka, and Burns Beach because they know we won't damage their paint. Some customers from Ocean Reef come by after beach days to get the salt off before it does damage.

The industrial area brings us a lot of work vans and utes. Tradies know that keeping equipment clean isn't just about looks — it's about maintenance. Salt, chemicals, and grime will eat through metal if you ignore it. We train everyone the same way and charge fair prices.

    Real Questions People Ask Us

    What People Actually Ask Us

How often should I wash my car?
Every 2–3 weeks if you park outside. Monthly if you garage it. More often if you live near the beach because of salt air exposure.
Will hand washing really prevent scratches?
Yes, if done right. The key is getting all the loose dirt off first with a good pre-rinse, then using clean tools with plenty of soap for lubrication.
    What about ceramic coating?
Ceramic coatings still need regular washing. The coating protects your paint, but dirt buildup will make any car look bad. We can wash ceramic-coated cars without damaging the coating.
Why do automatic washes leave spots?
Hard water minerals. They spray and let it air dry. We hand dry with microfiber towels so no spots — every time.
    Frequently Asked Questions

    Frequently Asked Questions

Hand washing is superior because automatic brush washes hold dirt from previous cars, causing scratches and swirl marks. Hand washes use fresh water, clean mitts, and proper techniques to protect your paint and trim. The difference is obvious after just a few months of each.

Hand washing with fresh water, clean mitts, and pH-neutral soap is the best option. Always pre-rinse to remove loose dirt first, use plenty of soap for lubrication, and dry with microfiber towels. Automatic washes with spinning brushes are the worst for scratches.

Yes. Rotating brushes at automated car washes can tear into clearcoat when grit and sand from previous cars are rubbed into your paint. Most people don't notice immediately — but after 6–12 months of automatic washes your paint will look noticeably duller and more scratched.

Many automatic washes use recycled water and harsh chemicals, leaving behind water spots and mineral deposits. They also miss areas like door jambs, wheel arches, and under mirrors. Proper hand washing with a pre-rinse removes grime more effectively and prevents the buildup that makes cars look perpetually dirty.

Every 2–3 weeks if parked outside, monthly if garaged. Near the beach or in salt air areas like Ocean Reef and Hillarys, more frequently to prevent salt corrosion. After beach trips or driving through construction, wash as soon as possible to remove salt and tar before they damage the paint.

Water spots are caused by hard water minerals left behind when water evaporates. Automatic washes spray your car and let it air dry — the minerals stay. We hand dry every car with microfiber towels immediately after washing, which is why our customers don't get water spots.

The diamond wash is a complete exterior hand wash — pre-rinse, pH-neutral soap, wheel treatment, hand dry. The mini detail adds interior work: vacuum, seat shampoo, dash wipe, air vent cleaning, interior plastic treatment, and an exterior wax coat. Mini detail takes 1 hour 20 minutes vs 50 minutes for the diamond wash.
